April Preemie Blanket - CAL Day 23

Hello and good morning. Wow day 23 and we're getting closer and closer to finishing our blankets.

Remember to check the notes for row 35 for those 3rd loop reminders. I really do like the texture those loops make when pushed forward like this. It has an almost knit look to it. I can see I'm going to have to use this technique again, I think it would look fantastic with variegated yarn.

You will need:

4.5mm hook
DK/8ply/light worsted weight yarn in minimum of 6 colours.

Yarn Note: I did not start with complete balls. All 6 of my balls were originally 100g balls with a little of each used. They are a mix of Stylecraft Special DK, King Cole Pricewise and Moda Vera Marvel 8ply for my 6 colours. You could choose 6 colours and follow my colour changes, or you could make every line a different colour (excellent way to use scraps) or you could even use some self striping yarn, or a solid colour.

Colour Changes: I change my colours by completing the last yarn over and pull through of the last stitch in the row with the new colour for the next row, so I don't have to join with slip stitches. Of course, this means you'll have to redo that one last stitch each day as you won't know what colour is next, but the finished piece will be much neater this way.

My Colours are

A - Beige
B - Blue
C - Dark Blue
D - Tan
E - Mint/Turquoise

F - Dark Grey

April Preemie Blanket - CAL Day 22

Good morning beautiful people!

Did you know that today, April 22nd is Jelly Bean day? YUM!

Jelly beans were created in the mid 1800's, and have since become a popular favourite for many people, adults and kids alike. Jelly beans have come a long way over the years in terms of flavours, there are just so many!

Personally, I like Jelly Belly brand the most, especially the watermelon ones, YUM!

My Colours are

A - Beige

C - Dark Blue
D - Tan
E - Mint/Turquoise
F - Dark Grey

Day 22

With B

NOTE: Because we've turned the piece and are working in rows and not rounds, the 3rd loop will be in the front of the piece, instead of the back, where it would be in rounds. I've added some photos here for you, so you can see where I mean. Using this part of the stitch pushes the other loops forward in the front of the blanket creating a nice texture.

33: Ch2, turn, hdc in the 3rd loop only of each stitch across.

April Preemie Blanket - CAL Day 17

Morning all, and hello day 17!

April 17th is the unofficial day of the Haiku!
A Haiku is a poem that traditionally has three lines with 17 syllables. 5 Syllables on the first line, 7 on the second, and 5 again on the third. They don't have to rhyme, can be fun and quirky or deep and meaningful, and sometimes they make no sense at all!

I had a crack at one for today!

Soft and squishy yarn
It makes my heart happy
Roll me in it all

Why not have a go yourself?

You will need:

4.5mm hook
DK/8ply/light worsted weight yarn in minimum of 6 colours.

Yarn Note: I did not start with complete balls. All 6 of my balls were originally 100g balls with a little of each used. April Preemie Blanket - CAL Day 16

Morning, morning!

Hey there! How is everyone coming along today? I have a question for you all today. If you're a multitasker, what do you do while crocheting?

I love listening to music while the hooks are flying. Everything from heavy metal and rap to country, pop, 90's classics and all the way through to some good old fashion 80's rock! Lately I've been enjoying Imagine Dragons new releases. Just fantastic! Who am I kidding, all of their music is fantastic!

You will need:

April Preemie Blanket - CAL Day 14

Morning lovelies!

April 14th is the International Moment of Laughter Day! This unofficial holiday is all about having a giggle, and finding the fun in the moment!

Laughing is something we do a lot in the MTM household. Mr Mamma has oodles of lame dad jokes (How do you make a tissue dance? You put a little boogie in it!). Miss L is the pun MASTER (Thanks for explaining the word "many" to me, it means a lot.). Miss C and Miss M are constantly throwing Knock Knocks at each other, and Master J, he thinks every single time someone farts is absolutely hilarious! So as you can imagine, we spend a lot of time giggling, snorting and full blow belly laughing here!

What makes you laugh?

What's funny is how HUUUUUGE today's row is. No, seriously, it's massive!! 😉

Hello and good morning all!

Today, April 10th, is Safety Pin Day!

They make excellent stitch markers when my other ones have gone walk about (and boy, doesn't that happen a lot!) and they also make some pretty fantastic Jewellery too! April Preemie Blanket - CAL Day 7

Hello hello, welcome! Day 7!

Did you like our fun fact yesterday? Ready for a new one today?
April 7th, is No Housework Day! I kid you not! See! So kick back, relax, grab a hook and forget about the dishes.

The first Saturday of April is also Tangible Karma Day. A day of doing unto others, paying it forward and upcycling while de-cluttering our space. The idea, is to pass on items you no longer have a need for, or to use items you have to make other things, to give to people that need them.  Sounds like a wonderful day to celebrate if you ask me.

Colour Changes:
I change my colours by completing the last yarn over and pull through of the last stitch in the row with the new colour for the next row, so I don't have to join with slip stitches. Of course, this means you'll have to redo that one last stitch each day as you won't know what colour is next, but the finished piece will be much neater this way.

My Colours are

A - Beige
B - Blue
C - Dark Blue
D - Tan
E - Mint/Turquoise
F - Dark Grey

April Preemie Blanket - CAL Day 6

Good morning all!

You know, I always get a bit stumped with what to write before a pattern. Especially when I'm uploading so frequently, like with the hat drives, and this CAL. I feel like we've already covered the details you need for the project!

So I thought today (and for the rest of the CAL) I'd share a fun fact with you! Did you know that April 6th is Caramel Popcorn Day? No? Well, you do now!

I don't know about you guys, but there is something magical about caramel popcorn. I'm a HUGE salted caramel fan, so adding caramel to buttered popcorn, in my opinion, is the best idea for popcorn ever! That combination of sweet and salty, oozy, sticky and crunchy, sends my taste buds into a spin!

What's your favourite snack?

A - Beige
B - Blue
